Andray Blatche has been red hot in April for the Washington Wizards

24-year old power forward Andray Blatche is making up for lost time in April. He has played in 2 games so far this month and he is averaging 37.5 minutes, 30.5 points, 18.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocked shot per game. Blatche has now played in 58 games (57 starts) for the Wizards so far this year and he is averaging 34.1 minutes, 16.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game. No one questions Blatche’s talent on the basketball court, but he needs to start acting his age if he’s going to realize his full potential which is immense.

Yi Jianlian is finally showing signs of life for the Washington Wizards

Blogged under Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Sunday 27 March 2011 at 8:01 am

Due to injuries, the Wizards have been pretty much forced into giving Yi Jianlian more P.T. and he’s been taking advantage of it. In his last six games, Yi is averaging 34.8 minutes, 10.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 1.7 blocked shots per game. Yi has now played in 52 games (8 starts) for the Wizards this year and he is averaging 17.0 minutes, 5.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. The Wizards are happy to finally see signs of life from Yi who has been playing like he was in a coma earlier this year.

The new guys are stepping up for the Washington Wizards

Rookie shooting guard Jordan Crawford and veteran small forward Maurice Evans are both playing well since coming over from the Hawks in the Kirk Hinrich deal. Crawford has played in 15 games (7 starts) for the Wizards so far this year and he is averaging 28.8 minutes, 14.1 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Evans has played in 15 games (2 starts) for the Wizards so far this year and he is averaging 24.8 minutes, 8.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. Evans has been the sixth man lately for the Wizards while Crawford has moved into the starting lineup. The deal with the Hawks is starting to look like a steal for the Wizards who also have a first round pick coming in this deal.

JaVale McGee has been solid for the Washington Wizards this year

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 4 March 2011 at 10:43 am

23-year old center JaVale McGee finally got his shot to start this season and he’s doing a pretty good job for the Wizards. He has played in 57 games (53 starts) for the Wizards so far this year and he is averaging 26.4 minutes, 8.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 2.2 blocked shots per game. McGee and Andray Blatche got into an altercation earlier this season and I don’t think the Wizards will want to deal with that again next season. With that in mind, I have a feeling that they will be trying to deal Blatche over the summer.

Kirk Hinrich is off to a solid start this month for the Washington Wizards

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 11 February 2011 at 7:56 pm

Kirk Hinrich is off to a good start so far this month for the Wizards. In his first four games in February, Hinrich is averaging 27.5 minutes, 12.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.8 steals per game. He is shooting 50% from the floor and he is 6 of 11 (54.5%) from three point range so far this month. Hinrich has now played in 45 games (28 starts) for the Wizards so far this year and he is averaging 30.7 minutes, 11.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Hinrich is one of the best #3 guards in the NBA and I’m sure teams will be calling the Wizards trying to deal for him later this month.
