Only John Wall is making a splash so far out of the rookies for the Washington Wizards

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 21 January 2011 at 8:45 pm

20-year old point guard John Wall has really looked solid when healthy so far this year. Wall has played in 28 games (23 starts) for the Wizards so far this year and he is averaging 36.9 minutes, 15.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 9.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game. His shooting hasn’t been too good as he is only shooting 39.7% from the floor and 29.7% from three point range so far this year. Look for Wall to become more of a pass first type of point guard until his shot starts coming around. 23-year old forward Trevor Booker has played in 34 games (2 starts) for the Wizards so far this year and he is averaging 10.8 minutes, 3.4 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. He is shooting a very solid 51.1% from the floor and look for him to earn more P.T. in the very near future. 21-year old PF/C Kevin Seraphin has played in 18 games (1 start) for the Wizards so far this year and he is averaging 9.1 minutes, 2.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. Seraphin, like Booker, might start seeing more P.T. in the second half of the year. 24-year old center Hamady N’diaye has played in 4 games (0 starts) so far this year and he is averaging 3.0 minutes and 0.8 points per game.

The Washington Wizards’ rookies are showing a lot of potential so far this year

It all starts with 20-year old point guard John Wall. Wall has played in 15 games (13 starts) for the Wizards so far this season and he is averaging 38.1 minutes, 16.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 8.9 assists and 2.3 steals per game. He is one of the early frontrunners for the Rookie of the Year Award but the Wizards need him to get healthy and back on the court. 23-year old power forward Trevor Booker is likely going to start getting more P.T. He has played in 20 games (1 start) so far this year for the Wizards and he is averaging 13.2 minutes, 4.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. Booker is shooting 54.5% from the floor as he is taking good shots but he needs to improve on his 68.8% free throw shooting. 21-year old PF/C Kevin Seraphin needs to pick up the pace a bit. Seraphin has played in 9 games (1 start) for the Wizards so far this year and he is averaging 12.0 minutes, 2.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Seraphin is only shooting 30.3% from the floor and that just isn’t going to get his butt off the bench. 23-year old center Hamady Ndiaye has only played in 3 games (0 starts) so far this year and he is averaging 3.0 minutes per game and 0.7 points per game this year. If the Wizards continue losing, they need to start getting Trevor Booker & Kevin Seraphin more minutes.

Besides John Wall, the Washington Wizards aren’t getting much from the rookies so far

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 17 November 2010 at 8:57 am

20-year old point guard John Wall looks like the real deal for the Wizards right now. He has played in 8 games (all starts) for the Wizards this year and he is averaging 39.3 minutes, 18.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 9.8 assists and 3.3 steals per game. If the Wizards continue to lose like they are right now it would make sense to play the rest of the rookies so they can see what they have. 23-year old forward Trevor Booker has played in 5 games (0 starts) for the Wizards so far this year and he is averaging 6.4 minutes, 1.6 points, 1.0 rebound and 1.0 assist per game. Fellow rookie forward Kevin Seraphin has only played in 1 game working 2 minutes in which he has 2 points and 1 rebound. Booker & Seraphin were both first round picks so the Wizards have high hopes for them. 24-year old power forward Hamady Ndiaye has only gotten into one game for the Wizards so far this season working 4 scoreless minutes in which he had 2 fouls.

Cedric Jackson was the last rookie standing for the Washington Wizards

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 16 April 2010 at 2:40 pm

The Wizards were the third team that Cedric Jackson played for in his rookie season. Jackson played in 4 games (0 starts) for the Wizards in which he averaged 9.8 minutes, 3.0 points, 0.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. He played in 12 games (0 starts) overall this season for the Spurs, Wizards and Cavaliers in which he averaged 6.2 minutes, 1.7 points, 0.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. It remains to be seen as to whether the Wizards will keep Jackson around for next year or not.

JaVale McGee is off to a good start for the Washington Wizards this season

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 27 November 2008 at 10:17 am

Rookie center JaVale McGee is off to a good start for the Washington Wizards who really need him right now. McGee has played in 11 games for the Wizards so far this season and he is averaging 20.0 minutes, 9.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 0.3 assists and 1.0 block per game. The Wizards should continue to have a lot of minutes for McGee as long as he keeps playing well.
