The Wizards forgot to show up last night as they fell behind 69-50 after the first three quarters which was too much to overcome especially when you consider that they only shot 38.5% from the floor. Caron Butler led the way for the Wizards last night with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 1 assist. Brendan Haywood also had a solid game with 10 points and 9 rebounds in only 26 minutes on the floor. Nick Young had 10 points in 23 minutes last night but he was only 4 of 11 shooting from the floor. The Wizards are now 5-10 on the year.

The Wizards outrebounded the Heat 48-36 and that was a big reason for the win in Miami last night. Antwan Jamison led the way for the Wizards last night with 24 points, 13 rebounds and 1 assist. Nick Young pitched in with 22 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists last night. Earl Boykins was solid off the bench last night for the Wizards with 10 points, 3 rebounds and 9 assists. The Washington Wizards need DeShawn Stevenson and Randy Foye to step up

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Need to step up, Front Page by alleyoop on Monday 23 November 2009 at 12:48 pm

With Mike Miller likely out of action for at least the next 4-5 weeks DeShawn Stevenson and Randy Foye need to step up. Stevenson will likely replace Miller in the starting lineup. He has played in 12 games (1 start) for the Wizards so far this season and he is averaging 19.0 minutes, 3.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. Stevenson will have to shoot better than he is right now (31.6% from the floor) to keep the starting gig until Miller returns to action. If Stevenson fails to improve the Wizards will likely insert Randy Foye in the starting lineup. Foye has played in 11 games (2 starts) for the Wizards so far this season and he is averaging 23.1 minutes, 9.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. But, Foye will also need to shoot better as he is only hitting 38.7% from the floor so far this year.

The Washington Wizards lose Mike Miller for a while

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Big Wizards News, Injuries, Front Page by alleyoop on Monday 23 November 2009 at 12:44 pm

The Wizards will be without starting shooting guard Mike Miller indefinitely with a calf injury. Miller has played in 9 games (all starts) for the Wizards this season and he is averaging 28.7 minutes, 9.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists. The Wizards will miss Miller’s all around game but they will really miss his shooting. Miller has hit 58.5% of his shots from the floor this season and a incredible 56.5% from three point range so far this year.
