Nick Young looks like he was a smart pick for the Wizards

Blogged under Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page, Uncategorized by alleyoop on Monday 31 December 2007 at 2:11 am

G/F Nick Young is the kind of athletic player that fits perfect into the Wizards running style. He has played in 24 games so far this season and he is averaging 14.4 minutes, 7.0 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. Young is shooting 40% from the floor, 34.4% from the three point line and 87.2% from the free throw line. Look for Young’s playing time to increase soon as he’s too good of a player to be sitting on the bench.

With Gilbert Arenas out the Wizards need everyone to pick it up on offense and three of them really are this month. Caron Butler has started 4 games this month and he’s taking his game to a new level. He has averaged 42.0 minutes, 24.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.5 steals per game. He’s also shooting a scorching 50.6% from the floor. Antwan Jamison is also having a great month. In 4 games this month Jamison is averaging 40.0 minutes, 20.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 block per game. Roger Mason has been electric off of the bench as he has played in 4 games this month. In those 4 games Mason has averaged 23.3 minutes, 11.8 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game. The Washington Wizards are off to an average start

Blogged under Bloglockers, Game Recaps, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 11 December 2007 at 11:03 pm

The Washington Wizards are tied for 2nd place in the Southeast Division with a 10-10 record which has them 5 games behind the Magic. The Wizards are playing much the same way as they did last season as they are averaging 101.9 points per game and they are allowing 101.3 points per game. Hopefully the offense will keep up the good work because they don’t have the capability to improve on defense.

DeShawn Stevenson needs to pick it up

Blogged under Bloglockers, Need to step up, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 5 December 2007 at 1:53 pm

With Agent Zero out for the next three months the Wizards need everyone to step up. Stevenson has not held up his end of the bargain yet this season. Stevenson has played in 17 games this season and he has averaged 26.7 minutes, 7.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. The Wizards also need Stevenson to shoot better as he’s only hitting 37.8% from the floor so far this year.
