Wizards pound the Cavs 111-99

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 21 November 2006 at 11:31 am

The score really doesn’t indicate the beating that the Wizards put on the Cavs Saturday night.  Gilbert Arenas was awesome with 45 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists.  Antwan Jamison had a decent game with 16 points & 8 rebounds.  DeShawn Stevenson had a good game with 15 points and 4 assists.  Caron Bulter was very active in the paint as he scored 11 points & grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Wizards needed a win badly and they got it to improve to 4-5 on the season.

Wizards fall again 100-91 to the Pistons

The Wizards had one bad quarter….the third, in which the Pistons out-scored the Wizards 31-15.  The Wizards could not recover from that terrible quarter.

Caron Butler led the way with 24 points & 7 rebounds.  Gilbert Arenas was only 7 of 20 from the floor as he finished with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.  Antonio Daniels played well off the bench and scored 15 points.  Antwan Jamison also had a bad night shooting (3 of 12) and he finished with 8 points & 8 rebounds.

The Wizards fell to 3-5 on the season.

The Wizards forget they have a game and get thrashed 102-82 by the Knicks

The Wizards played the worst game that they’ve had in a long time.  The Wizards only shot 31.5% and were out-rebounded 52-39…..by the KNICKS!

Gilbert Arenas was tossing up bricks all night long as he only hit 5 of 19 from the floor.  Arenas finished the game with 22 points & 5 assists.  Antwan Jamison had a decent game with 20 points and 9 rebounds.  Caron Butler chipped in with 18 points and 5 rebounds.  Nobody else back-up the Big 3 for the Wizards last night.

The Wizards have to bring it against the teams they should beat.  That was a lousy effort last night as the Wizards fell to 3-4 on the season.

Centers

Etan Thomas will start for the Wizards this season.  All the Wizards want from their centers is good rebounding & defense.  Those qualities were Thomas’ strength in college at Syracuse.  Thomas has averaged 6.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game over his career.  Thomas could easily double those averages with the added playing time he’s going to get this season.

Brendan Haywood will be the back-up.  Haywood has a similar skill-set that Thomas has.  Haywood has averaged 7.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game over his NBA career.

Calvin Booth won’t get much playing time, but he’s a good defender.  Booth has averaged 3.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocked shots per game over his career.

Small Forwards

Caron Butler had the best season of his four year career last season.  He averaged 17.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game last year.  Butler is the #3 option on the offense for the Wizards and he plays tough defense.  For his career, Butler has averaged 14.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

Second year player Andray Blatche will be one of the back-ups at small forward.  Blatche didn’t get much playing time as a rookie and only averaged 2.2 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.
